The Cervantes Institute in Cairo organizes artistic shows, mixing music and poetry, under the title “Weeks in the Garden” in its garden every Wednesday in June, in the presence of several ambassadors. With the application of the necessary sanitary measures and social distancing rules, “Weeks in the Garden” will see the participation of a number of groups, as well as the reading of excerpts from poetry from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Cuba, Peru, Dominican Republic. Italian cultural institute
Egyptian contemporary choreographer and dancer Hazem’s Head produces an original performance inspired by Federico Fellini and his masterpiece “Roma”. Through the vitality of Fellini’s imagination embodied by the city of Rome, a group of young Egyptian dancers, led by Headar, will perform in five performances the analogies that link Rome to Cairo. Videos of the performances, shot in different venues, both indoor and outdoor, will examine the importance of public spaces during current pandemics and our daily relationship with the pulsating energy of the city. The videos will be available on social media and the CII website in June.
The collaboration with Makan (the Egyptian Center for Culture and the Arts) continues online in June. Egyptian musicians will virtually meet their Italian counterparts in order to create synergies in the field of traditional and folk music.
The International Drum Festival for Peace Dialogue
Sat 12 to Fri 18, 8 p.m .: The festival, founded by the artist Intésar Abdel-Fattah, is organized in cooperation with the Dialogue Foundation for the Arts of Popular Cultures. The concerts are presented at the Citadel of Salaheddin, the Dome of Al-Ghouri, the Creativity Center on the Opera House, the Outer Space of the Al-Hanager Center and for the first time in Elder Al-Sayyeda Zeinab district, Beit Al-Sinari affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Freedom Park in Zamalek and the Garden of Mahmoud Moukhtar Museum of Art.
