Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India]Jun 5 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Chairman JP Nadda on Sunday slammed the opposition saying that political parties operating on behalf of the Adivasis (tribals) had looted and betrayed them while adding that only the BJP was thinking about their welfare.
Addressing the Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda Vishwas rally in Ranchi, Nadda said, “Only the BJP and its leader can say that we have done things for the Adivasis. But the political parties running on behalf of the Adivasis can’t say anything, they will. only say how they plundered the Adivasis and how they betrayed the Adivasis.”
The BJP leader further said that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi took care of the tribal community.
“If anyone took care of the tribal brothers, then respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi did. There are eight tribal brothers in the Modi government today,” he said.
He said that today the poverty line in India has fallen from 22% to just 10% “About 12% of the population is above the poverty line. Out of this 12%, a large number belong to our tribe brothers,” Nadda added.
Nadda further said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, more than 3 crores of houses have been built and donated across the country, of which 39 lakh have been approved for the tribal brothers, of which 29 lakh have been completed.
Praising the tribals for their efforts in the freedom movement, the party chairman said, “Our tribal brothers speak very little, but have always been ready and worked for the betterment of society, for the country. While the freedom movement had not even started in India, at that time, if anyone had raised their voice against the British, it was our tribal brothers. Our tribal brothers first fought this battle of 1780, from the 18th century to 1857. Since the establishment of Jharkhand, the BJP has never forgotten the Adivasi Brothers.”
He also praised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for establishing Jharkhand.
Nadda raised questions about the intention of the Congress party. “Why Congress didn’t think about the welfare of the Adivasis. It’s because they didn’t want your (tribal) welfare but theirs.”
The BJP National Chairman also launched an attack on Chief Minister Hemant Soren for his mining lease and recent episodes related to Pooja Singhal.
“Hemant Soren and Corruption have become synonymous with each other…I was shocked to see the mining lease in myself (Soren) and the names of relatives…Millions of rupees recovered from an IAS and the ruling party leaders were suffering,” he added. (ANI)
