Tri-County Mall becomes Artisan Village: new name announced for $1 billion project

The former Tri-County Mall space is getting a new name ahead of a billion-dollar redevelopment project. The space that once occupied the Tri-County Mall will now be called Artisan Village. New owners, MarketSpace Capital and Park Harbor Capital announced the name and brand on Monday. The redeveloped space will include multi-family units, retail and restaurants, green space, a dog-friendly restaurant and park, and more. Cincinnati-based marketing and consulting firm BSB Group International developed the name and brand, the new owners said in a press release. “When BSB Group introduced the Artisan Village name and, more importantly, the story behind it, our team was unanimously inspired and immediately on board,” said Sohail Hassan, managing partner of Marketspace Capital, in a statement. “We are truly honored to take one of the most authentic aspects of Springdale’s history – its centuries-old commitment to artisans and creators – and intentionally weave it throughout this new development. This name fits so much with our vision of the property as a destination worthy of a trip, a great place to live, and a tight-knit community of artisans and makers.Inspiration came after examining the history of Springdale and its community The project will be completed in five phases and is expected to be completed in approximately 10 years, with the first phase of the development expected to begin later in 2022. The first phase will include 450 multi-family apartments, 40,000 square feet of retail space and restaurants and 110,000 square feet of recreation space, including a 38,000 square foot fitness center. The space will also include walking and biking trails in the first p base. “In the beginning, Springdale was known as a welcoming, eclectic, handmade craft village that anyone, from anywhere could visit, stay and call home,” Shaikh said. “And today, over 200 years later, we want to make it that place again.”
