5 New Year’s resolutions for better health

New Year, New U

This is the time of the year when many of us make promises for the year ahead. Here’s how you can use your New Year’s resolution to lead a healthier, happier life.

Being healthy tops the charts when it comes to New Year’s resolutions.

Try something new

Here are 5 resolutions for better health that you might not have considered before.

  1. Make your bed every morning: Starting your days off with a freshly made bed is a great way to transform your space and start your days on the right foot. Taking on small tasks in the morning can also help you be more productive throughout the day.
  2. Be a more adventurous eater: Instead of cutting certain foods out of your diet, broaden your horizons and widen your palate this year. Trying out a new cuisine once a month can be a fun way to introduce yourself to different flavors and cultures.
  3. Sanitize your phone weekly: Your cell phone is one of the most germ-infested things you have. Unplug your device before cleaning and use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with soap and water. Avoid using cleaning solutions that contain bleach and aerosols on your touchscreen surfaces.
  4. Find someone to mentor: Consider finding a youth to mentor. You can gain new global perspectives and reinforce the lessons you have learned in life while feeling good about having a positive impact on the life of a young person.
  5. Take time each week to stretch: Healthy adults should exercise flexibility for all major muscle and tendon groups at least two to three times per week. Try stretching, yoga, or tai chi. Spend a total of 60 seconds on each stretching exercise, dividing your repetitions into 15 or 20 second intervals.
